MCM Construction, Inc. was formed on January 31, 1973 as a General Contractor, specializing in Heavy Highway and Bridge Construction.
The first project awarded to MCM Construction was Pocket Road, in South Sacramento, as a Subcontractor. Since that time, MCM has
completed more than 200 projects as the Prime Contractor, and currently has 17 projects underway statewide.
In 1983, MCM first ventured into Southern California to complete the Universal Avenue / Hollywood Boulevard overcrossing in Universal
City. 1986 saw the beginning of a select series of jobs in Southern California, all part of the Century Freeway Project: Paramount I, Central Avenue, Lynwood, Aviation, Paramount II, Avalon,
Harbor Interchange, and the largest single contract awarded to MCM Construction, The Long Beach Interchange.
In 1989, MCM Construction, Inc. played a major role in the attempted rescue of victims trapped on the Cypress Freeway in Oakland, after the
7.1 Loma Prieta earthquake. For many hours after the disaster, MCM’s President, Jim Carter and Vice President, Harry McGovern actively participated in the rescue. Six years later, MCM was awarded
the first of two contracts which were part of the realignment and rebuilding of the Cypress Freeway: Cypress “A” and Cypress “G”.
Since 1973, many awards and honors has been bestowed upon our company. MCM has been recognized for the past several years, as one of
the Top 400 Contractors in the nation by Engineering News Record. MCM was also ranked the number one Contractor in the State of California, on projects involving Federal Funds. One of MCM
Construction’s greatest team efforts was at the Malibu Lagoon Emergency Bridge replacement, where the combined efforts of MCM’s Northern and Southern California key personnel completed the Phase I and II
portions of the bridge in a record 35 days, exactly 100 days ahead of schedule. These are but a few of the many awards and recognition our company has received since its inception.
MCM Construction, Inc. has built more than 1,000 bridges in California, becoming the State’s leading Bridge Contractor.
